چکیده
This study was performed to evaluate the effect of using attachment on implant supported distal extension lower partial overdenture. Ten lower kennedy class II partially edentulous patients were selected to receive implant at second molar area, then patients were divided into 2 groups according to the implant superstructures either (dome shaped-or-ball and cap attachment). Patients of both groups receive removable partial denture of the same design. Patients were followed up for one year both clinically and radiogarphically. The results showed no statically difference between the treatment plans. It could be concluded that Tooth-implant supported partial denture with or without attachment may be reasonable and simple solution for Kennedy class II partial denture. Ball and socket attachment could be considered as more favorable solution than the dome shaped one regarding prosthetics function and patients satisfaction.

Stress Distribution in Natural Tooth and Implant Supported Removable Partial Denture with Different Attachment Types: A Photoelastic Analysis
Background and Aim: Different attachment designs have been developed to connect implant to natural teeth in partial dentures; however, adequate studies have not been performed to determine stress distribution patterns in these designs. The present study aimed to assess stress distribution patterns in natural tooth and implant supported removable partial denture with different attachment designs...
متن کاملMaxillary Implant-Supported Over-Denture, Role of Attachment Selection on Treatment Success Rate: A Literature Review
Objectives Maxillary implant-supported over-denture is a suitable treatment where conventional denture cannot be used. Few studies are available on maxillary over-denture while more are available on mandibular over-denture with no literature referring to attachment selection in maxillary over-dentures. The objective of this literature review was to see attachment selection strategies in maxill...
متن کاملImplant - supported removable partial denture CLÍNICO | CLINICAL
The absence of lower posterior teeth makes the planning and control of removable partial dentures difficult since support is provided by teeth and mucosa, which present different anatomical characteristics. The planning of removable partial dentures supported on a distal implant renders tooth-implant-supported rather than tooth-mucosa-support dentures an option in distal extension cases. In the...
متن کاملImplant Supported Distal Extension over Denture Retained by Two Types of Attachments. A Comparative Radiographic Study by Cone Beam Computed Tomography
BACKGROUND This study was conducted to compare and evaluate the effect of two different attachments (locator attachment and ball and socket [B&S] attachment) on implants and natural abutments supporting structures, in cases of limited inter-arch spaces in mandibular Kennedy Class I implant supported removable partial over dentures by measuring the bone height changes through the cone beam radio...
متن کاملReview of Implant Support for the Distal Extension Removable Partial Dentures
Partially edentulous patients with missing premolars and molars have been conventionally rehabilitated using the free-end removable partial dentures (RPDs). With the advancements in implant dentistry, the benefits of implant-retained/supported mandibular implant overdentures relative to conventional mandibular dentures with bilateral extensions (Class I Kennedy) have now been extensively invest...
